How the Parted Magic subscription works

Parted Magic subscriptions are simple by design: you pay quarterly or yearly, you get every update released during your subscription, and you can cancel anytime with one click from your account dashboard. This page exists so you know exactly what you are signing up for before you buy.

At checkout

Every subscription product is labeled “Billed once per year until cancelled” or “Billed once per quarter until cancelled” — there is no fine print hiding the recurring nature of the charge. Before the first payment goes through, PayPal asks you to explicitly authorize recurring billing on PayPal’s own checkout screen, then sends you a confirmation email. We send a second confirmation email from our own system.

Every renewal

Both PayPal and Parted Magic send a billing notification every time a renewal charge goes through. You will not be charged silently.

Cancelling

A “Cancel Subscription” link sits in the top navigation bar of every page on our website, with the same visual weight as the Login button. There are no phone calls, no support tickets, and no retention scripts. One click ends future billing. Your access continues for the rest of the period you have already paid for, and every version of the software you have already downloaded keeps working indefinitely.

Independent review

European Union consumer protection authorities have formally reviewed our subscription disclosures and cancellation process. Their finding was that our subscription transparency was above average.

Beyond regulatory review, payment processors like PayPal monitor merchant dispute rates continuously and terminate merchants whose dispute rates exceed industry norms. Our continued operation and processor standing are independent confirmation that the system works as described.

If you ever want out

Log into your account and click Cancel. Your existing downloads keep working. Future billing stops immediately. There is nothing to negotiate, no one to argue with, and no condition to meet.

If you have questions before you subscribe, the support page covers the most common ones, and the contact page is the right place for everything else.
